ACTIVITIES in brief since 2018
All Kerala Inter Club Veterans Tennis Tournament (T-15) was organised jointly with Calicut Cosmopolitan Club on 29 and 30 April 2018. Main sponsor was P. K. Steels. This Unique Doubles Team event was named as T-15, as the total points instead of games and sets are considered. 8 teams participated. Trivandrum Club won the trophy and Calicut Cosmopolitan Club was the Runner Up.
General Body Meeting. 16 May 2018. New Executive Committee was elected in the presence of Mr. Thomas Paul, Secretary of Kerala Tennis Association and Mr. K.J. Mathai, President of Kozhikode District Tennis Association.
Important decisions of the Executive Committee of 13 September 2018. 1) Register bylaws of KDTA under Societies Registration Act XXI of 1980. 2) Nominated Mr. Darius P. Marshall, former Tennis Player and Sports organiser, as the Patron of KDTA. 3) Appointed Executive Committee member P.K. Ahammed Kutty as the new treasurer
District Tennis Tournament 2018-19: 8 to 17 November 2018. 46 players participated in various Categories , namely, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Above 18 and Above 45 years of Age. There was also an Inter Club/Institution event in which Team NMS won the first place and Calicut Exclusive Club the second place.
2nd All Kerala Inter Club Veterans Tennis Tournament (T-15) was organised jointly with Calicut Cosmopolitan Club on on 28 and 29 Feb 2018 sponsored by P. K. Steels. 7 Clubs participated. RSC Cochin won first prize and Kannur Association Team the second prize.
Pariishi Shah, District Junior player became the Second Ranked player of Kerala State in "Under 14 Girls" Category when she became the Runner Up of the 84th State Championship held at Trichur from 1 to 8 May, 2019. Our District Under 16 Girls team represented by Pariishi Shah, Amulya Ram Nair and Sanika Anand won the third place.
District Tennis Tournament 2019-20: 9,10, 16 & 17 November 2019. 81 players participated in various Categories , namely, Under 14, Under 16, Under 18, Above 18 and Above 45 years of Age. In the Inter Club category The Exclusive Club won the first place and BC Chaliyam won the second place.
KDTA hosted the Excecutive Committee and General Body Meeting of Kerala Tennis Association in Calicut on 20 July 2019.
An Award Ceremony to honour the achievers in tennis was organised on 20 July 2019. Veteran Players P. Sanjeev, Bhushan Akut and Junior player Pariishi Shah received the awards from State
President Mr. A . Saleem in the presence of Thomas Paul , Treasurer Dr. Prasad and other Kerala Tennis Association Executive Commitee members and KDTA members.
10 to 12 January 2020: Our District Teams participated in Inter District Tennis Championship held at Cochin in Under 16 and Under 18 (Girls and Boys) and Men's categories. Men's team represented by David Martin and Abhindas won the third place.
Achievements by our Veteran Tennis Players. In 2019 at Kottayam Veterans, Sanjeev P.S won the singles and doubles with P. K. Ahammed Kutty won the first prizes in 45+ Category. Bhushan Akut won the Singles title in 55+ Category at Cochin Veterans 2019. In December, Bhushan and Musthafa won 55+ Category at Trichur Veterans in 2020. Bhushan Akut and Sujith Nair won the Doubles Tournament in 40-60 Category at Mundakkayam. Bhushan Akut also won the Singles and Doubles title in Goa All India Veterans in 2020. Other players who participated in Veterans tournaments were Ashraf M. A., Adeep Salim , Arjun Krishnan and Abdul Wahab , Baju Sebastian and Ramakrishnan.
